ARC RAIDERS EXPEDITION

ARC Raiders Expeditions for Beginners

Start here if prestige is new: what an Expedition is, the six stages in plain language, which pages to read first, and how the new Expedition 3 damage challenge changes the final week.

An Expedition is a scheduled prestige cycle. You donate specific items across six stages, finish Load Stage, then depart during a fixed window. Departing resets most of your current Raider, but it adds permanent account progress like skill points, stash slots, and cosmetics.

What Expeditions are asking you to do

The practical entry point is still Raider level 20. That unlocks the Projects tab and lets you start feeding the Caravan. Expeditions are voluntary. They are not a mandatory wipe, and they are not something every player needs to do the moment the tab appears.

Players chase them because the reward package is real:

  • bonus skill points above the usual cap,
  • more stash space,
  • evolving cosmetics and indicator icons,
  • and consecutive buffs on the next Raider.

For current Expedition 3, those streak buffs climb to 15% XP, 18% Scrappy materials, and 80% repair value if you keep departing on time.

The six stages in plain language

  1. Foundation - basic materials and bulk common items.
  2. Core Systems - wiring, electrical parts, and early technical bottlenecks.
  3. Framework - batteries, modules, and rarer ARC-linked pieces.
  4. Outfitting - advanced components and chase drops.
  5. Load Stage - coin-value donations across Combat 200k, Survival 100k, Provisions 150k, Materials 300k.
  6. Departure - sign up during the live window, complete the active challenge rules, and leave at the cutoff.

Stages 1 through 5 still carry between cycles after patch 1.13, which is why newer players can prep steadily without feeling like one missed weekend deletes all their work.

The new beginner-critical change

This is the part beginners should understand right away: Expedition 3 no longer gives its main five skill points from stash value.

Instead, once your Caravan is complete, the live window asks you to finish a damage challenge over 13 days. Damage from any weapon or gadget counts, against any target except the practice range. The five-point track reaches its top reward at 100,000 damage, with lower rewards at 5,000, 10,000, 30,000, and 50,000 damage.

That means the final week is no longer only about hoarding. It is now about:

  • finishing the Caravan,
  • remembering to sign up manually,
  • and actually playing enough to clear the challenge before the window closes.

Stash value still matters, but mostly for catch-up afterward.

Tools that match how people actually play

  • Checklist - stage-by-stage tracking with local save.
  • Countdown - exact window timing for sign-up and automatic departure.
  • Budget planner - Stage 5 coin buckets.
  • Stash calculator - catch-up planning and archive stash-threshold comparison, not the main Expedition 3 five-point track.

Beginner mistakes that still hurt

The classic mistakes still show up every cycle:

  • selling rare items too early,
  • assuming finishing Stage 5 automatically signs you up,
  • forgetting that blueprints, workshop progress, stash inventory, and coins reset,
  • and skipping a window without realizing it breaks the temporary-buff streak.

The April 17 patch added one more: players still reading old guides and thinking 3 million stash value is how they earn the five main Expedition 3 skill points. It is not. That rule is now the old model.

What to prioritize first

If this is your first cycle, keep the plan boring and durable:

  1. Hit level 20 naturally.
  2. Open the Projects tab and learn the stage shape before donating blindly.
  3. Hoard rare Expedition items passively instead of panic-farming them late.
  4. Build stash discipline so you stop selling future bottlenecks.
  5. Get comfortable with the idea that the final week is now an activity challenge, not just a stash-value check.

Timing tips and catch-up

The strongest Expeditions are still built across the full cycle, not forced in one weekend. Prep your materials early, finish Load Stage ahead of the window if possible, and enter the 13-day challenge with room to actually play.

If you missed earlier points, catch-up is still there:

  • it matters only for players on their second or third Expedition,
  • it unlocks only after the damage challenge,
  • and it still uses 300k stash value or coins per point.

So the clean beginner mindset is:

  • Caravan first
  • damage challenge second
  • catch-up stash math third, if it even applies to your account
